Description

Explore the beauty of the archaeological zone of Chacchoben and the Bacalar Lagoon. The Chacchoben Ruins & Bacalar Excursion includes a bilingual professional guide, fruits, snacks and drinks. We will drive for about 50 minutes to the archeological site of Chacchoben. There, you’ll take a tour leaded by a professional guide that lasts 1.5 hours. We will walk in the jungle to explore and learn about the different structures of the mayan site such as: Temple 24, Plaza B, Gran Plaza, Gran Basamento, Los Gemelos, Las Vasijas and Templo Uno. This excursion also offers the possibility to learn about local plants and observe some species of local fauna, including birds and spider monkeys. Boat excursion with fruit, snacks and drinks included. On our way we will famous and extraordinary local village called Pedro Santos also know as Pineapple Village for its unique honey pineapple where our guide make a brief explanation of the village (Stop of 5 - 10 minutes upon request for picture, or any purchase of fruits). Upon arriving to Bacalar the first glimpse you will have if the beautiful lagoon is at our marina, where you will meet your boat Capitan. The caption along with your guide will give your the tour. The first place to visit in the Bacalar Lagoon is “Black Cenote” which is an open sky cenote and also the deepest point of the lagoon. The next point is “Cenote Esmeralda” to enjoy will be where you’ll be amazed by the different shades of blue and understand why the Bacalar Lagoon is frequently referred as the 7 colors lagoon. The final spot to explore is the Pirate Channel, as you’ll be explained, pirates used to enter Bacalar by using this channel to steal local precious wood. This spot is not deep and is ideal for swimming in the freshing sweet water of Bacalar, you’ll also have a beautiful view of the different shades of blue of the Lagoon. After we are done with our boat tour, we will take you to an authentic mexican restaurant where you will enjoy delicious Mexican (hand made tortillas and food seasoned by locals) tacos for lunch (4 tacos per person). Food is so amazing that on our way back you will want to have a nap time. Finally we will take you back to port Costa Maya on a ride of about 60 minutes. Which we guarantee back to ship on time.
