Tips for traveling to Cancun

Adventure Family Fun Retreats & Relaxation

Tips to prepare your next vacation.

Although we all like to go on vacation, do we know how to do it right? It turns out that many times we do not make the most of those hours or days we can spend in a new place we want to explore, and sometimes at the end of the trip we have the feeling that we could have done it better.

To avoid this, here are some tips or recommendations to make the most of your vacation:

Plan your transfers.

Have you ever been so excited to visit new tourist destinations and want to go to Isla Mujeres, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, that you forget to check how you are going to get there?

Unlike other tourist sites, Cancun does not have so many mobility alternatives from the airport, the ones you find outside the boulevard are mostly cabs, private transfers, shared transfers, buses with specific stops and car rentals. The first two options can vary a lot, costing up to $800 for a transfer that lasts approximately 30 minutes, and a rental car at that time costs an average of $1900 per day. So we recommend renting a car in advance of your trip.

Book in advance.

Book in advance and check that the weather is favorable; there is nothing more heartbreaking for a tourist than arriving at your destination and finding that heavy rains won't let you leave. On the other hand, it is also very unpleasant to be carrying your bags from one place to another and checking hotel costs (since you are from another country and probably your phone line does not work here) or wasting time on your cell phone looking for what you want when you could be sitting down and enjoying the scenery because you already know where to go. In conclusion, plan well your hotel, transfers and activities before leaving home.

Prepare and compare tours.

Cancun is one of the biggest tourist spots in Mexico. There are many options of activities and it is almost impossible to do and know everything, so check your alternatives, verify in an official platform such as My Guide Mexico which activities go best with you. Be careful with scams, it is better to pay a little more and have something reliable and safe, than to risk having a bad experience.

Check carefully what the tours include, sometimes food has an extra cost, this may seem cheaper but when you get to the place you run the risk of the food being more expensive or it may be that food is included but it will not be in that restaurant you loved, check this point and make a balance of what suits you and what you want to do.

Dollars, euros or pesos mexicanos.

And finally, if you have dollars or euros, it is almost certain that they will accept them anywhere, however the conversion may not favor you much, maybe a few pesos per dollar or euro may not seem so much, but in the long run, you may end up spending 15% more. To avoid this, consider going to a banking center where you can exchange your money for Mexican pesos.
