Punta Maroma is situated at a peaceful location on the Mayan Riviera, just 10 km from Playa del Carmen. It is a family spot that offers a variety of water activities for tourists. It has a delightful coral reef and is part of the Mesoamerican Reef System, its most important characteristic. After the Australian Great Barrier Reef, this structure is the second largest in the world.
 
Punta Maroma waters are supplied by an underground river creating an ecosystem that is rare in the region. Within the coral reefs, the oceans look like a swimming pool with turquoise waters, ideal for free diving.
 
Activities and tours
 
Punta Maroma offers tourism facilities of all sorts, ranging from classic snorkeling and jet skiing to less traditional ones, including jet packages or even riding or camel riding.
 
Between Punta Maroma and Punta Beté is the Tres Ríos theme park, located in a unique place where three rivers meet to flow into the sea. There are also a number of sports in Tres-Ríos, such as mountain biking, kayaking, or biking.
 
Access
 
The beaches are public in Mexico and must not be charged elsewhere for entry. However, in many areas, the only way to receive and bill for such facilities is to use hotels on the beach. Punta Maroma is one of those cases.  The beach is accessed by the hotel entrance, with entry to parasols and lounges at an extra charge.
 
How to go:
 
Take Playa Express on Highway 307 to the north from Playa del Carmen. You must walk 3 kilometers or take a taxi from the Punta Maroma entrance to the beach.
