Description

Day 1: CITY SIGHTSEEING TOUR. We'll start our visit in Jalatlaco, a magical neighborhood in Oaxaca that, although it was once an abandoned town, today shines with its colonial streets, bohemian cafes, and vibrant street art murals. We'll continue exploring the historic center, arriving at the majestic Temple of Santo Domingo, where we can admire its grandeur. We'll enjoy the tranquility of the cobblestone streets and well-preserved buildings of Oaxaca. We'll walk along the Andador Turístico to the Zócalo and the cathedral, visiting the 20 de Noviembre and Benito Juárez markets, full of colors, flavors, and the warmth of the people. Finally, we'll head to the famous Pasillo de Humo, where the anafres roast tasajo, cecina, and chorizo, a perfect experience to whet the appetite. Day 2: GUELAGUETZA SHOW (MORNING OR EVENING IN BOX B). The term Guelaguetza is derived from the Zapotec word 'guendalezaa,' which means 'offering, gift, or fulfillment.' It's one of the most popular traditions in the state of Oaxaca. The Guelaguetza has its origins in pre-Hispanic times. It is worth mentioning that this festival began with a ritual performed for the ancient gods in the place called 'Daninayaaloani' or hill of beautiful views by the Zapotecs. At that time, the ancient Mexicas worshiped various deities, including the Goddess Centéotl, who represented the Goddess of Corn. They worshiped and respected her so much that they held a celebration in her honor year after year, offering her dances, rituals, and a huge banquet that lasted eight days. Today, the “Lunes del Cerro” festival is still held in July each year, with performances of the traditional dances of our communities, shows, and cultural events. DAY 3: The day will begin with a visit to Monte Albán. There we will explore its Great Plaza, the ball court, Tomb Seven, and other impressive structures. Then, we will head to Reyes Etla. In this community, Ms. Patricia will teach us the process of making cheese and rolling quesillo. We'll be able to taste the cheese in delicious memelas with molcajeteada sauce while enjoying rural life. A full day of history, culture, and art!
