Description

Discover Mexico City as a Time Traveler Dive into a unique experience that turns a simple walk into a journey through the centuries. 'The Mexico City Time Machine' is a 3-hour tour designed to contrast the architectural ambition of the Porfiriato with the technological avant-garde of the 21st century, If you're looking for more than history and want to understand the soul of the metropolis through its boldest architecture and most surprising anecdotes, this tour is for you. What you'll do on this unique tour This tour is divided into four eras that will let you see the city with fresh eyes: 1. Era 1: The Cloud – The Digital Vanguard We'll start at the Vasconcelos Library, the 'Ark of Knowledge' of the 21st century. Check out its floating book architecture (the shelves hang from the ceiling!) and Gabriel Orozco's impressive whale. We'll explore Buenavista Station, the old gateway to the Mexican railroad, contrasting steam transport with new digital mobility. 2. Era 2: Steam – Engineering and Counterculture We'll visit the Museo Universitario del Chopo, a building that was bought by catalog and brought by boat from Germany. We'll analyze its Art Nouveau architecture and fascinating history as a center of youth counterculture in the 1970s. Wednesday to Sunday, 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM We'll check out the Geology Museum, an example of the eclectic style and scientific ambition of the Porfiriato. Tuesday to Sunday: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. To enter, you must book within these hours. 3. Era 3: The Eager for Europe – Luxury and Travel Anecdotes We'll arrive at the Moorish Kiosk, the true symbol of the neighborhood. We'll tell you the incredible story of how this cast-iron structure traveled from Pittsburgh, USA. through international exhibitions, until it reached its current location. We'll discover the Sagrada Familia, a neo-Byzantine beauty that hides a revolution: it was built with reinforced concrete, a cutting-edge technology for 1906. 4. Era 4: The Root – From Counts to Local Flavor We'll check out the Casa de los Mascarones, the former summer residence of the Counts of the Orizaba Valley, whose design inspired the Metro icon. We'll end up in the neighborhood's beating heart: the La Dalia Market. We'll close the historical circle with a gastronomic recommendation to savor the authentic neighborhood life in Santa Maria la Ribera. This tour can be customized. If you can't access the museums due to booking times, we have other places to visit with art, architecture, and more culture. We guarantee you'll enjoy it a lot.
