Description
We will meet at the gate of Palacio de Bellas Artes, a beautiful neoclassical building in the heart of Mexico City renowned for Diego Rivera’s mural, “Man Controller of the Universe.” There, we will discuss the Mexican Revolution, the Spanish conquest, modern politics, and much more. It is the perfect place to review the art of Mexico’s three grandmasters: Rivera, Orozco, and Siqueiros.
Afterward, we will walk around 5 de Mayo and Madero Street, admiring the neoclassical and baroque-style palaces, until we reach the Zócalo of Mexico City.
Next, we will explore the San Ildefonso Museum, where many of the first murals were painted. This stop will provide us with deeper insight into the dynamics of this art movement.
Finally, we will visit the Live Muralism Museum, which houses 248 murals by Rivera and a great selection of recent art pieces by various artists, including ceramics and pre-Hispanic murals. It’s an ideal place to appreciate Mexico's greatness.
