Description

The objective of the tour is to make visible the role of women as active partners in the conquest and founding of Mexico City, it shows the female participation as soldiers, nurses, writers, painters of the codices of the Florentine Codex of Bernardino de Sahagún, the participation of Nahua women as painters, educators and mediators between the Spanish armies and their allies with the Nahua armies, not only that of Malinche's role as ambassador but of other women who appear on the Tlaxcala canvases, in those stories told in pictograms and paintings. The tour begins at the ruins of Templo Mayor, continues with the house of María Estrada, passes behind the Metropolitan Cathedral on Guatemala Street to show the chapel of the Souls of Purgatory, entrance to Calmecac in the Spain Cultural Center (former school for children of the Nahua nobility), later we will visit the old houses of Moctezuma and the Old Palace of Axayacatl, father of Moctezuma II, we continue along 5 de Mayo street and stop at the Dulceria de Celaya where we can have a dulce de leche and coffee, we walked in front of the Cathedral to Moneda Street in the Old Archbishopric Palace, today the Treasury Museum and closing point of the tour
