Description
Your tour will begin at the Zocalo, the heart of Mexico City, where you will admire historic buildings such as the majestic Metropolitan Cathedral and the National Palace. From there, you will walk along the famous 5 de Mayo Street, which commemorates the historic battle between Mexico and France. Along this street you will also find the Casa de Los Azulejos, a masterpiece of the novo-Hispanic baroque. The tour will end at the Palacio de Bellas Artes, one of Mexico's most representative cultural centers and home to the Mexican Opera. After the guided tour of the historic center, it will be time to delve into the local gastronomy. You will be taken to a traditional taqueria, where you can enjoy authentic Mexican tacos. After you have satisfied your hunger, your guide will take you to the famous Mexican food markets, a meeting place for tourists, chefs and food lovers from all over the world. Your first stop will be at the San Juan Market, where you will see exotic animal meats, fresh fruits and, if you dare, taste delicious insect dishes, and enjoy a tasting of some of these exquisite delicacies accompanied by a shot of tequila or mezcal! After some free time to browse the market stalls, you will continue on to your last stop: the Mercado de la Ciudadela. This market is famous for its handmade crafts made by talented Mexican artisans, and is the perfect place to shop for unique souvenirs. You will learn about the history behind these works and explore more than 350 stalls filled with handcrafted goods.
