Description

The Ballet Folklórico de México by Amalia Hernández is a unique performance that will immerse you in the most iconic traditions, legends, and stories of Mexico. For over 70 consecutive years, this amazing ballet has been one of the most important representations of Mexican culture, held at the majestic Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, the country’s most important center for the arts. Amalia Hernández, the founder and artistic director, created a ballet with a keen aesthetic vision, transforming Mexican traditions and myths into a vibrant explosion of movement and color. Each dance and each costume tells a story, whether of pre-Hispanic civilizations, indigenous peoples, popular festivities, or the different states of Mexico. With more than 100 dancers on stage, the movements, music, and choreography evoke a Mexico full of life, passion, and color. In this show, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of dances, including the most representative folkloric dances from different regions of Mexico, such as the Dance of the Flyers of Papantla, the Jarabe Tapatío (a typical dance from Jalisco), the Dance of the Feather (originating from Oaxaca), and many more. The choreography is accompanied by live music, performed by a traditional orchestra that highlights the country's musical richness. Every dance step, every rhythm, is a tribute to the cultural diversity of Mexico. The Palacio de Bellas Artes, one of the city’s most impressive buildings and a UNESCO World Heritage site, is the perfect setting for this performance. Its Art Nouveau and Art Deco architecture, its imposing marble dome, and murals by Diego Rivera, David Siqueiros, and other world-renowned artists, add to the magic of the ballet. The combination of the architectural beauty of the Palace and the magnificence of the folkloric ballet creates an unmatched sensory experience. Attending the Ballet Folklórico de México by Amalia Hernández is not only an opportunity to see a world-class performance, but also a way to connect with the roots and soul of Mexico. It is a journey through the traditions, myths, and history of the country through an explosion of colors, music, and dance that will leave an indelible mark on you. At the end of the performance, you will have experienced one of Mexico's most outstanding cultural events, taking with you a new appreciation for its rich heritage and art.
