Description

Escape the hustle and bustle of Mexico City for the day on a full-day tour of the towns of Hidalgo. See the Basaltic Prisms of Santa Maria Regla, explore Huasca de Ocampo's architecture and culture, and visit the mining town of Real del Monte. Your first stop is Real del Monte, a small mining town located at an altitude of 8,900 feet (2,700 m). There you'll have a guided tour of the center of the town, where you'll learn about colonial times and their impressive gastronomy. Enjoy an ample amount of free time to stroll the city's charming streets and, if you want to, sink your teeth into pulque bread, pastes, and plenty of other delicacies famous throughout the area. Enjoy some free time to shop and find some lunch. Then, continue to the Basaltic Prisms of Huasca de Ocampo. Admire the 30-meter tall geometric basalt columns that decorate the walls of the impressive Santa Maria Regla Canyon, where 4 waterfalls feed the San Antonio Regla dam. Here, admire the collection of towering basalt rock columns lining a ravine that was formed by the slow cooling of volcanic lava. Take some time to admire 4 waterfalls crashing down these magnificent rocks. Continue to Huasca de Ocampo, named “Magical Town” (Pueblo Mágico) for its preserved architecture and natural surroundings. At the center, you’ll have time to take pictures, walk around its streets, or buy a souvenir, before beginning the drive back to Mexico City, where your experience ends with drop-off at your starting point.
