THERMÁ Contrast Lab
Mexico
At a glance
THERMÁ Contrast Lab is a focused contrast-therapy studio in Polanco, Mexico, built around a structured alternation between infrared sauna and cold-water immersion. Its approach, called the Polarity Protocol, treats heat and cold as a timed sequence rather than as separate wellness treatments. The setting is presented as a physical laboratory for thermal response, with a measured, functional character instead of a conventional spa atmosphere.
The protocol moves through three stages: heat, a transition with showering, and a cold plunge. The sauna reaches temperatures above 85°C, while the plunge is set at 10°C. Each stage is timed, giving the session a clear rhythm and making the experience more deliberate than an open-ended sauna visit. Heat is used to open the cycle, while the direction of the final transition changes according to the intended focus.
THERMÁ offers two principal formats. The Express route lasts 20 minutes and includes one heat-and-cold cycle, making it suitable for a compact visit between other commitments. The Deep route lasts 50 minutes and includes three cycles, creating a longer format for active recovery or periods of sustained physical and mental load. The venue frames its work around nervous-system regulation, circulation, inflammation and stress response, while presenting these as physiological mechanisms rather than as spa promises.
The morning format, described as AM Activation, closes with cold and is designed around alertness, metabolic stimulation and focus. The evening format, described as PM Recovery, is oriented toward downshifting and recovery. This distinction gives the studio a practical structure for different points in the day, although both formats retain the same heat-to-cold foundation.
Its style is concise and protocol-led. There are no dishes or culinary service to define the experience. Instead, the identity comes from the contrast between the infrared sauna, the plunge and the controlled transition between them. The atmosphere is likely to appeal to people who prefer a direct, time-efficient wellness session with a clear beginning, sequence and endpoint. It can suit active schedules, training routines or anyone interested in a guided heat-and-cold format rather than an unstructured spa visit.
Located on Temístocles in Polanco IV Sección, the studio places a highly specific wellness experience within one of Miguel Hidalgo’s established urban districts. Reservations are available for individual sessions, with memberships also forming part of the venue’s format. The 20-minute option works for a brief appointment, while the longer protocol allows more time for repeated cycles and a deeper immersion in the contrast process.
