Description
Led by a certified art historian, this 3-hour walking tour follows the Mexican Muralist Movement in the exact buildings where it was born — not a general city tour with a mural stop.
You’ll walk through the sites in the order the Mexican Muralist Movement unfolded. Begin at the Secretaría de Educación Pública, the movement’s first major public commission under José Vasconcelos, where Diego Rivera covered entire courtyards with murals celebrating a new Mexican identity. Continue to Palacio de Bellas Artes, home to some of the movement’s most ambitious masterpieces, including Rivera’s reconstructed Man, Controller of the Universe, alongside works by José Clemente Orozco, David Alfaro Siqueiros, etc. End at the Diego Rivera Mural Museum, where you’ll admire Dream of a Sunday Afternoon in Alameda Park, one of Rivera’s most iconic works, and discover one of Mexico City’s hidden artistic treasures.
Across all these stops, your guide decodes the symbols, the political arguments, and the personal feuds behind each wall — the layer most visitors walk past without seeing.
The group stays capped at 10, so you can actually get close to the details. All entrance tickets are included.
