Description
The tour begins with a visit to the Cacahuamilpa caves, where you enter through a large rock doorway to admire natural formations shaped by water erosion and tectonic activity. Walk through corridors revealing figures resembling animals, faces, and buildings, along with representations of Chontal tribe customs honoring their underworld gods.
Next, travel to Taxco for lunch at Hotel Monte Taxco. Afterward, you may take an optional cable car ride (not included). Following lunch, take a walking tour of the town, exploring the oldest mining center in the Americas that contains silver mines dating to the Colonial Era.
Visit the ex-convent of San Bernardino and the Temple of Santa Prisca, built around the 18th century in Novo-Hispanic Baroque style, exemplifying Taxco’s colonial heritage. You will then have free time to visit Humboldt House, the former residence of the German expedition and now home to the Museo del Arte Virreinal.
The tour continues with visits to local workshops, goldsmiths, and museums in Taxco, known as the City of Silver. The excursion concludes with a return to Mexico City around 6:00 PM.
