Description
This tour visits Cholula's Great Pyramid, including its archaeological site and museum, and ascends to the Our Lady of Remedies Church situated on top of the pyramid. You will explore Santa María Tonantzintla Church, known for its interior decoration combining indigenous motifs with Catholic elements. Learn about the representation of Tlaloc, the rain god, in the sky chapel dome and discover the carved faces symbolizing indigenous people who died and were reincarnated.
Next, visit the church of San Francisco Acatepec, notable for its intricate and memorable architecture.
In Puebla de los Ángeles, a city with rich cultural heritage, admire views framed by the Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl volcanoes. Visit the cross-shaped cathedral with five naves, including an octagonal central altar and four altars aligned to compass points. Observe the largest bell towers in Mexico.
Continue to the Rosario Chapel, once considered one of the eight wonders of the world, and see a statue of the Virgin of the Rosary surrounded by saints, angels, and martyrs. Conclude with a stroll along Calle de los Dulces to sample iconic local desserts. The tour returns to Mexico City by 6 PM.
