Description
This 10-day tour covers central and western Mexico, including Querétaro, San Miguel de Allende, Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas, Guadalajara, Michoacán, Morelia, Puebla, Oaxaca, and Monte Albán. It is suitable for travelers interested in history, culture, and local crafts.
Day 1: Departure from Mexico City to Querétaro. Panoramic visit to the Aqueduct, Mirador, Independence Square (Government Palace and Lopez de Ecala House), Corregidora House and Square, Republic Theater, Marquesa House, St. Clara and St. Augustine Temples, and the House of the Dogs. Free time at leisure. Continue to San Miguel de Allende for overnight stay in the historic center.
Day 2: Visit Dolores Hidalgo to honor Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla and Jose Alfredo Jimenez. Proceed to Guanajuato to visit San Ramon Mine, Pípila Monument, Funicular, Juarez Theater, Jardines de la Union, Baratillo Square, University, Callejon del Beso, Hidalgo Market, and Alhondiga de Granaditas. Afternoon free for exploration; overnight in Guanajuato.
Day 3: Travel to San Luis Potosí to see Plaza del Carmen (Theater and Temple), San Juan de Dios Garden, Cathedral, Municipal Palace, Plaza de Armas, Caja Real, and Plaza de los Fundadores. Free time before departing to Zacatecas for free afternoon and overnight stay.
Day 4: Visit Zacatecas landmarks: Aqueduct, Cerro de la Bufa, Cable Car, Eden Mine, Cathedral, Government Palace, Santo Domingo Temple, Fernando Calderon Theater, Jesus Gonzalez Market, and Ex-convent of San Francisco. Afternoon free; overnight in Zacatecas.
Day 5: Depart for Tlaquepaque with free time for exploration. Afternoon arrival in Guadalajara including visit to Cabañas Cultural Institute. Panoramic tour of San Juan de Dios Market, Plaza Tapatía, Degollado Theater, Rotonda de los Hombres Ilustres, and Government Palace featuring José Clemente Orozco murals. Free afternoon; overnight in Guadalajara.
Day 6: Head to Michoacán with a stop in Tzintzuntzan. Continue to Pátzcuaro, designated a Magical Town, with panoramic visits to Basilica of Our Lady of Health, Temple and College of the Society of Jesus, the Tabernacle, House of the Eleven Patios, and Andador de Madrigal de las Altas Torres. Explore squares of Vasco de Quiroga and Gertrudis Bocanegra with local crafts. Overnight in Morelia.
Day 7: Panoramic tour of Morelia: Main Square, Government Palace, Garden and Conservatory of the Roses, Clavijero Palace, Candy Market, Aqueduct, Fountain of the Tarascas, Callejón del Romance, and Calzada. Free time. Transfer to Puebla for accommodation.
Day 8: Cultural tour including Archaeological Zone of Cholula with the Church of Los Remedios and Main Pyramid. Visit Santa María Tonanzintla and Church of San Francisco Acatepec, then return to Puebla’s Zócalo with free time in Parían. Continue to Oaxaca for overnight stay.
Day 9: Explore Monte Albán archaeological site with Building S, Building J, Systems IV and M, Tomb 104, and Main Platform. Visit Oaxaca’s historic center including Santo Domingo de Guzman Temple. Walk the Andador Turístico through architectural monuments, galleries, stores, restaurants, Alameda, Cathedral, and Zócalo. Visit Benito Juárez and 20 de Noviembre markets. Free afternoon; overnight in Oaxaca.
Day 10: Option to return to Mexico City or Puebla; additional supplement may apply.
