Description

Depart from Mexico City to Tlachichuca, Puebla, then travel by 4x4 to the Piedra Grande mountain hut, your overnight accommodation. Upon arrival, take an acclimatization walk and practice using crampons and an ice axe. Return to the hut for dinner and prepare for the early ascent.

Begin the trek before dawn to reach a vantage point at sunrise, where you can view the valleys around Pico de Orizaba and the glacier leading to the crater. Follow the glacier to reach the 5,700-meter summit, the highest point in Mexico and the third highest in North America.
