Itinerary

Day 1: Departure from Mexico City to Puebla. Visit Santa Maria Tonantzintla and San Francisco Acatepec temples. In Puebla’s Zócalo, explore Plaza de Armas, Cathedral, Capilla del Rosario, Casa de los Muñecos, Compañía de Jesús, Universidad, Plazuela y Callejón de los Sapos, and Casa del Alfeñique. Free time at Parián Market. Overnight stay.

Day 2: Travel to Oaxaca with stops at Monte Albán archaeological site to see the Main Platform, Buildings S and J, Systems IV and M, and Tomb 104. In Oaxaca city, visit Templo Santo Domingo de Guzmán, Andador Turístico, Alameda Park, Cathedral, Zócalo, Benito Juárez and 20 de Noviembre markets. Free afternoon. Overnight stay.

Day 3: Visit Santa María El Tule, home to the oldest ahuehuete tree, then continue to Mitla, a Zapotec cultural-religious center. Return to Teotitlán del Valle, known for colorful wool rugs. Overnight stay.

Day 4: Afternoon tour in Veracruz includes the Fort of San Juan de Ulúa, Santiago Bastion, Temple of the Good Traveler, lighthouses of Venustiano Carranza and Juárez, Post and Telegraph Buildings, Theater, Shipyards, and Agustín Lara House Museum. Transfer to Boca del Río, known for beaches and gastronomy. Overnight stay.

Day 5: Travel to Tlacotalpan on the Papaloapan River, visit Salto de Eyipantla waterfall, and continue to Los Tuxtlas Biosphere Reserve with its lush vegetation. In Catemaco, visit Nanciyaga Ecological Reserve with optional spring water bathing, mud bath, or shaman cleansing. Transfer to San Andrés Tuxtla. Free time. Overnight stay.

Day 6: Visit Sumidero Canyon Ecotourism Park. Take a boat trip along the Grijalva River through Sumidero Canyon. Free time in Chiapa de Corzo. Continue to San Cristóbal de las Casas. Overnight stay.

Day 7: In San Cristóbal, visit the indigenous market, Santo Domingo temple, and Amber Museum. Explore nearby Tzotzil communities of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantán. Free afternoon. Overnight stay.

Day 8: Visit Yaxhá River and Agua Azul waterfalls. Visit Misol-Ha waterfall with option to swim. Overnight stay.

Day 9: Visit Palenque archaeological site: Temple of the Inscriptions, Palace, Temples of the Sun and the Foliated Cross, Queen’s Bath. Transfer to Villahermosa airport. Optional return to Mexico City or Puebla (supplement may apply).
