Itinerary Overview
Day 1: Departure from Mexico City to Puebla. Explore the Archaeological Zone of Cholula, Church of Los Remedios, Ex Convent of San Gabriel with its 49 domes, Santa María Tonantzintla temple, San Francisco Acatepec, and panoramic view of La Estrella de Puebla. Transfer to downtown Puebla and enjoy a free afternoon. Overnight in Puebla.
Day 2: After an American breakfast, visit Plaza de Armas, Puebla Cathedral, Chapel of the Rosary, House of the Dolls, Church of the Company of Jesus, University, Plazuela and Alley of the Toads, and House of the Alfeñique. Free time at the Parian Market and free afternoon. Overnight in Puebla.
Day 3: Travel to Veracruz port. Visit San Juan de Ulúa Fortress, Baluarte Santiago, Temple of the Good Traveler, Venustiano Carranza and Juarez lighthouses, Post and Telegraph buildings, theater, shipyards, and Casa Museo Agustín Lara. Proceed to Boca del Rio for beach, gastronomy, and shopping. Overnight in Veracruz.
Day 4: Depart to Tlacotalpan, recognized for its colorful facades and red roofs by the Papaloapan River. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue to Salto de Eyipantla waterfall, known for scenes in the film Apocalypto. Transfer to San Andrés Tuxtla. Overnight stay.
Day 5: Explore Los Tuxtlas Special Biosphere Reserve, a region rich in vegetation and Olmec history. Visit the ecological reserve of Nanciyaga, a filming location for The Medicine Man. Optional activities include thermal springs, mud baths, and a Shaman cleansing. Return to San Andrés Tuxtla for overnight.
Day 6: Travel to Chiapas. Arrive at Parque Ecoturístico Cañón del Sumidero, enjoy free time in nature. Take a boat ride along the Grijalva River through the Sumidero Canyon. Visit Chiapa de Corzo, then continue to San Cristóbal de las Casas. Overnight stay.
Day 7: Visit San Cristóbal market, Santo Domingo temple, and the Amber Museum. Explore Tzotzil indigenous communities of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantán for a cultural experience. Free afternoon. Overnight in San Cristóbal.
Day 8: After breakfast, free time until transfer to Tuxtla airport for your flight. Return transfers to Puebla or Mexico City are available for an additional fee.
