The museum is located within the ancient Templo Mayor temple and features eight exhibition rooms, each dedicated to different Aztec deities. It preserves the remains of the original Templo Mayor of Tenochtitlan and houses an extensive collection of artifacts that complement the archaeological site.
Visitors can explore the southern section devoted to Huitzilopochtli, the god of the sun and war, and the northern section dedicated to Tlaloc, the god of rain. The Templo Mayor and the Sacred Precinct were central to Mexica religious life and symbolic of the Aztec empire’s dominance.
