Description
Begin your tour at the Chapel of Jesús Nazareno, where Hernando Cortes' remains lie. Continue to the Monument to Mexican Identity at the Zócalo, featuring the eagle devouring a snake symbol perched on a cactus.
Explore the Zócalo esplanade, admiring the National Palace, before entering the Metropolitan Cathedral. Inside, view 16 chapels and the tomb of Mexico's first emperor, Agustín de Iturbide. Pass by the Templo Mayor from the outside, then walk along Calle Madero, the historic center’s first pedestrian street.
