Description
On this tour, we will discover the birthplace of Mexican muralism, the most important artistic movement in all of Latin America, and how it evolved over the years, taking over public spaces so that great artists could paint our identity. We will explain the first murals by Diego Rivera, Siqueiros, Orozco, and their students, visiting a typical market where the first foreign women painted. We will see the contradictions and criticisms of muralism.
We will explain the current urban art scene, graffiti, which today is an essential movement for understanding art in Mexico City. It emerged as vandalism, but over the years it has become a movement that has changed neighborhoods and saved lives. On this unique tour of Mexico City, you will learn about the history of these two movements and experience making your own graffiti with spray paint.
