  • See manmade floating islands dating back to the 14th century.
  • Taste the most important national drinks and learn about their history.

Description

Upon arrival at the Las Flores Nativitas pier, you must wait under the purple arch (with the words 'El sabor de ser mexicano' [The taste of being Mexican]) at the entrance to the car parking lot. There, you will be greeted by your guide, who will take you to the 'trajinera,' a traditional regional boat, previously decorated for you. When you board the boat, you will be greeted with a small souvenir that you can take back with you, and drinks of your choice (take advantage of the unlimited drinks!). You will also taste typical Mexican sweets, some of them made by artisans from the region. You'll taste the most popular national drink while learning about the process of making tequila. You'll hear about the history of the Xochimilco Canals and their importance today as you look at the greenhouses with local flowers, depending on the season. You'll participate in our fun activities to immerse yourself in our culture, and by the end you'll master our jargon like an expert. You'll take a short break on a chinampa (ancestral island) to eat (1 quesadilla or sopes of your choice included), and you'll be able to use the restroom. You'll taste the sacred drink of the Mexica gods, pulque, and learn about its mystical history. You will be a bartender and learn how to make your own Michelada, the favorite cocktail of Mexicans. Get your voice ready for the challenge game. You can challenge or be challenged! End the tour with a tasting of different types of mezcal, a must at gatherings of Mexican friends. Important Notice: During the tour, you can listen to music of your choice on a speaker at no extra cost. If you want to book live music, there will be an extra cost that must be covered by the person who requests it. As this is a tourist area, we'll find vendors of food, beverages, souvenirs and even clothing on the canal. The cost of any of these extra services offered outside the boat and purchased by the customer must be fully covered by the customer.
