Como todas las malas ideas, surgió una noche de 1988 cuando Carlos Anderson pidió una chalupa más y Billy pidió otra ronda de mezcal. Pensaron que sería buena idea dejar la casa de Carlos O'Brian en Puerto Vallarta y trasladarse al desierto de Baja California Sur. Fue allí donde alquilaron un almacén abandonado y comenzaron lo que hoy se conoce como El Calamar Huevas. De alguna manera, esta idea aparentemente 'mala' resultó ser brillante.
