Description

Discover the architectural and historical monuments of Oaxaca de Juárez, the capital of the Mexican state of Oaxaca on a half-day guided tour. Oaxaca received the Cultural Heritage of Humanity designation by UNESCO in 1987. The historic center of Oaxaca, previously known as the Noble and Loyal city of Antequera, comprises 227 blocks covering an area of around 5 square kilometers. In this area, there are 26 colonial-era temples, 5 convents, and a wide variety of civil structures, exhibiting all the various architectural styles of the 16th-20th centuries. You’ll begin with a walking tour of the city’s central market and then head to the zocalo, or main square. From this point you’ll continue on by vehicle to see the other major sights, including the Government Palace and the cathedral.
